Using Levitra
For most men, the recommended Levitra starting dose is 10 mg taken 25 to 60 minutes prior to sexual activity. Levitra can remain effective for up to five hours.
Precautions
There have been rare reports of men taking Levitra experiencing prolonged erections greater than 4 hours and priapism (painful erections greater than 6 hours in duration). In the event that after taking Levitra an erection persists longer than 4 hours, you should seek immediate medical assistance. If it is not treated immediately, penile tissue damage and permanent loss of potency may result.
Levitra should generally be used with caution by men with anatomical deformation of the penis (such as angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, or Peyronie's disease) or by patients who have conditions that may predispose them to priapism (such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia).
You should not take Levitra if you are taking nitrates or nitric oxide donors (these medications are used to treat angina or chest pain). Levitra is also contraindicated in men where sex is inadvisable and men older than 75 years of age who concomitantly use potent CYP 3A4 inhibitors (such as ritonavir, indinavir, ketoconazole and itraconazole).
The safety of Levitra has not been studied for certain groups of patients. Anyone with the following conditions should not take Levitra until further studies are available: severe hepatic (liver system) impairment , end stage renal disease requiring dialysis, hypotension, recent history of stroke or heart attack, unstable angina, and known hereditary retinal degenerative disorders.
Store Levitra at room temperature, keep Levitra away from light and moisture.
Store Levitra out of the reach of children.
Levitra Side Effects
Side effects that may be experienced while taking Levitra include headaches, flushing, stuffy or runny nose, indigestion, upset stomach, or dizziness. These side effects usually go away after a few hours. Speak to your doctor if you get a side effect that bothers you or one that will not go away.
Levitra may lead to an erection that won't go away (priapism). If, after taking Levitra you get an erection that lasts for more than 4 hours, seek medical help right away. Priapism must be treated as soon as possible or lasting damage may occur to your penis including the inability to have erections.
Levitra can cause changes to your vision, such as seeing a blue tinge to objects or having difficulty telling the difference between the colors blue and green.
